Dead Kennedys @ SBE 27th June

Post by ThruBeingCool »

Well, it's been 35 years since I last saw them so I've decided to give them another try.

Anyone else going?

Saw them at Mosely civic hall back in 80 or 81. I don't think Jello is with them nowadays and a very very accrimonious split . They were good then and had Drongo's for Europe as support - local Brum punk band. The girlfriend couldn't get on with Killing Joke 10 years ago so I don't know what she'd say about DK's were we to go .
All quiet ..........

My brother and his mate are going to the Liverpool gig. I can guarantee they will be the most pissed up people there.

SBE was ok. I've seen many a band play without their original members and got over it. Dead Kennedys left me feeling that I'd seen a tribute band. They didn't do anything particularly wrong but Jello Biafra IS the Dead Kennedys IMHO. And he wasn't there obviously.

Probably need another visit to see if I appreciate them more.

My brother said Liverpool was the best gig he'd ever been to. Whether the fact that he txt me at 9.44am to say he was on the train, with another 3 and half hours to go, and that he was finishing off his Stella before going on the wine was anything to do with it, i don't know.
