Sometimes, I wish there was a resident Head of Archives.

This should be in the "Other Bands" corridor.

Heard the single. Absolute tosh!

He's done a few good solo tracks - Peacock Suit for example, but it's all become a mush to me these days

Just like Weller himself. More excitement in a faux leather brogue.

I like this album, to be quite honest. I think Weller painted himself into a bit of a corner with the solo sound he had from 'Wild Wood' up until 'As Is Now', since' 22 Dreams' he's been musically restless in a way that he hadn't been since The Style Council. Of course, I understand that there's a lot of folks out there that want him to keep on being the Paul Weller of The Jam, or even the Weller of 'Stanley Road'. Not gonna happen!

I have never liked Weller, saw a few seconds of his recent BBC concert, bored after 30 seconds.I just can't take to him or his voice or anything else.I also think The Jam were vastly overated.

But each to their own.

Quite like the new album, he seems much a happier bloke these days as well. Weller's albums since Stanley road have ben a bit hit or miss containing a few good songs here and there but this one is pretty consistent. I think nostalgic people think he is suddenly going to do an album of 60s mod covers or re-record old Jam numbers but his solo carer has always been about doing new things and moving forward. Also attracting new fans who know nothing about his Jam days is handy for him as he hardly revisits any Jam songs in his live set.
