On the way home from the Australian & New Zealand Last Supper Tour in 2011; Carol, Pete and Steve Ignorant found themselves stranded due to the Chile ash cloud. During the long night gazing at the lights of Sydney reflecting on life while drinking beers, Slice Of Life was born. They performed their first gig in The Horseshoe Inn at Wellingborough on the 25th October 2013 and never looked back.

Slice Of Life is an opportunity for Steve to explore the more contemplative side to his songwriting. A far cry from the aggression of Crass maybe, with the songs in an acoustic setting of: piano, acoustic guitar and upright bass, but nonetheless compelling as Steve opens both heart and soul when reflecting on life and then reminds us just why we should never give up on this world or on each other with his poems and songs that make us think about the world around us and reminds us just why we should still care.

Impossible to categorise, Slice Of Life’s first album is up-front and soul-baringly personal. It’s a mixture of songs and spoken word that draws you in and stays with you long after the final note has been played.
Steve: ‘Years ago I read a book called Brighton Rock, for days the atmosphere of that story stayed with me and I’ve always wanted to create an album that would have that same effect on people.’

Steve Ignorant is a singer/songwriter and co-founded the anarcho-punk band Crass with Penny Rimbaud in 1977. Apart from doing spoken word performances as a solo artist, he also performed with Conflict, Schwartzenegger and Stratford Mercenaries. In 2007 he performed Crass’s entire Feeding of the 5000 album live at the Shepherds Bush Empire and throughout 2010-2011 presented The Last Supper, touring/celebrating the songs of Crass around the globe, ending with a farewell gig at Shepherds Bush Empire in November 2011.

In 2013 Steve and Paranoid Visions decided to record an album. The result ‘When …?’, a hybrid of styles, all with a nod to early 80s anarcho-punk. They now perform live on special occasions.
Carol Hodge provided the female vocals in Steve’s Last Supper band from January 2011. She has been fronting rock bands since the age of 15, including current project Wrecks, Bad Taste Barbies and plays piano and sings in her solo project Crystal Grenade.

Pete Wilson joined The Last Supper band when he took over on bass in 2011. He has played guitar and bass in several bands, including Wrecks, Andy T and Lies, All Lies.
Lucas Martin started as a guest bass player but after only one performance with Slice Of Life became a permanent member of the band. Previous projects include Spanish trip hoppers Monoh and sound teching for world renowned jazz and classical ensembles in his ‘day job’.
