What better than all the Stranglers albums? I must dig out out Skylarking now you've said that. I'm sure I prefer Nonsuch though.

XTC better than the Stranglers?! Do me a favour!

Skylarking - not one amazing song but as a whole it's just a fantastic album

A great album indeed. Can't stop playing side 1 at the moment.

And typically XTC, they keep one of their best songs off the album - Dear God - although my american version has, and I assume most version will also have it.

I think Andy might disagree with it being his favourite - as it contains a rather strong, but subtle, rebuff to his current girlfriend!
Still, it was recorded 25 years ago (God, I am old, still remember getting it on day of release) so he's probably been forgiven by now!

XTC, seem to be ostensibly... always unmentioned/ignored in any television documentaries or literature... about the early plethora... 1976-1977
of Punk and New Wave (as indeed are the MIB).

I agree with you Jim... Smokeless Zone... Track 8 , Side 1 on Beeswax... truly fuckin mint, fella! (interesting to note that XTC had a song titled: "Punch and Judy")

PS: Yeah, THROUGH BEING COOL I just KNOW the term "Fella" gives you the rats  BUT i'll still buy you a pint at the Roundhouse gig, fella
cheers

Hi FELLAS :smt006

If you compare XTC's output from 1983 onwards to the Stranglers repertoire from the same date, then XTC win hands down. Mummer, Big Express, Skylarking, Oranges and Lemons and the two Dukes of Stratosphear albums - knock bells off Feline, Aural Scupture, Dreamtime and 10. Nonsuch, Apple Venus and Wasp Star are also vastly superior to any any Stranglers mkII stuff. The first six Stranglers albums beat seven shades of shit out of the early XTC ones.
