About 5 years ago Colin Moulding publicly announced his retirement from music (although I believe he has done some bits and pieces since) and Andy Partridge has said that without him there's no XTC.

They're one of THE bands I regret never seeing play live - not sure I've even had the chance - right up there with not seeing XTC, the (original) Pistols, Pink Floyd.
Talking of XTC, what's happened to them? Have they called it a day? I really hope not.

Agreed Jason.

Back on track although I do love Talking Heads their back catalogue does seem a bit hit and miss. In particular there's some very weak songs towards the end of their career sounding like some of the dross David Byrne came out with when he went solo.

Has anyone got Paul Roberts' number? I'm sure he'd be a well suited replacement, always is!

I'm going through Talking Heads myself at the moment. I totally agree with the "hit and miss" comments. So far '77 is my favourite, what a classic! That was one of my "listened to whilst living in Germany" albums so always makes me a bit nostalgic now. For my choice of favourite it's a toss up between "Sugar On My Tongue" and "This Must Be The Place".

I like most of their albums.

The Big Country is one of the best tracks ever recorded for my money.

Dont have shit loads of their stuff and I do mean to, nothing I have heard I have ever disliked, great fuckin band I have at least two albums lurking around, possibly three and certainly a few tracks, it would be a cliche to say psycho killer, once in a lifetime, road to nowhere, but so what, genuinely catchy thought provoking songs and that stop making sense, which I do have thanks to a newspaper freebie ;) is as someone else (Dom I think) said awesome. A band I should also get round to listening to all the albums of, why not 8)

Amazon are punting a live CD at the moment, Boston Tea Party, which was previously
punted as Performance (with a diff.cover), which was originally a free FM radio broadcast
of a pretty damn cool Fear Of Music era gig.

Or you could of course free and legally visit here:
