Well I mentioned Motorhead doing RAMONES and Crass white punks on hope

then you have a few interesting ones

The Clash- Whiteman In Hammersmith Palais, I believe was a dig at The Jam and also name checks Delroy Wilson

Linton Kwesi Johnson - Five Nights of Bleeding :
"Night number three, over the river
Right outside the Rainbow
Inside James Brown was screamin soul
Outside the rebels were freezin' cold"

absolute lyrical genius, not sure I'd say the same of these two nonetheless enjoyable numbers from the 80's!!!!

Pop Will Eat itself- Can U dig it:

"We dig Marvel and D.C., we dig Run-DMC,
We dig Renegade Soundwave and AC/DC"

Zodiac Mindwarp- Prime Mover:
"Well I Love Tv And I Love T. Rex
I Can See Through Your Skirt
I've Got X-Ray Spex"

oh and don't forget the Ramones do you remember rock'n'roll radio, tonnes of bands are mentioned!

Does Toiler on the Sea count when it was band who took their name from that song? well yeah of course it does, must be a lot of bands who have done this. I remember an annoying phase around 1999/2000 when every Indie band seemed to be named after a Smiths song, well to be honest I can only think of there being one' Pretty Girls Make Graves', never heard them, didn't want to either (and I like the smiths!!!)

reason for edit

A couple of others The Sisters of Mercy took their name from a Leonard Cohen song right? another one came to me as well The Jesus and Mary Chain- Bo Didley is Jesus
