New Model Army - 30th Anniversary Shows
I know that this is a def starter for myself and young Owen, but for anyone else interested, the following is from the NMA website
We have always been a band concerned with looking forwards rather than back. And, as we approach our 30th Anniversary, we find ourselves in an almost unique and privileged position: we can go on tour successfully (the most recent Today Is A Good Day tour featured 90 shows in 20 countries) and play our current material with sometimes barely a nod to our long history. There is almost no other 'old' band that could make such a claim.
However, to mark the 30 years, this autumn we will indulge in a moment of nostalgia and pride in what we have created. Each weekend we'll be in a city for a two-night stand. The format of the shows will be very similar to what we did in 2000: two sets on each night - the first starting acoustically and building up over 50 minutes or so. Then a short 20 minute break before another full-on set of up to 100 minutes including encores. The following evening we will do the same but with 100% different material.
Our promise is to play at least 4 songs from each of the 13 studio albums (including the two B Sides/Lost Songs compilations). These will not be played in chronological order, or album-by-album, but a random choice. It's possible that we may also feature guest appearances from one or two friends and former members on some nights but nothing is fixed at this point. We hope also to include a display of at least a small part of the New Model Army 'One Tribe' Exhibition of original artwork and memorabilia - depending on the nature and geography of the venue and other ‘logistics'. We will make further announcements as the shows get nearer.
The first to be confirmed and on sale will be in New York City (or Brooklyn to be exact) at The Bellhouse on the 3rd and 4th September. This will be the only event in North America (timed for the ‘Labour Day' holiday weekend and, importantly just before our visas from our last tour expire). Ticket details to follow shortly.
We will announce more cities within a few days but for those people looking to book holidays, most of the rest will be on weekends throughout October and November.
Looking forward to it,
New Model Army.
Road Trip anyone?????

Re: New Model Army - 30th Anniversary Shows
Raven1 - the current line up is
Justin Sullivan - Guitar/Vocals
Marshall Gill - Guitar
Nelson - Bass
Micheal Dean - Drums
Dean White - Keyboards
I think the 'bass' player you are refering to is Stuart Morrow who left the band in 1985, who's style and sound did lend itself to the original uniqueness of the band.
Dale - Yes I will see you in church in 2 weeks time
Rodders
Justin Sullivan - Guitar/Vocals
Marshall Gill - Guitar
Nelson - Bass
Micheal Dean - Drums
Dean White - Keyboards

Some mentions of possible reappearances of old band members on their site so you never know. I'd love to see them with Morrow as missed him first time roundRodney Blackstaff wrote:Raven1 - the current line up is

More likely to be Ed Alleyne Johnson or Mark Feltham with his mouth organ though...Moose would be a pleasant surprise too.
2 sets of totally different stuff each night sounds promising, like the 20th anniversary shows.

Re: New Model Army - 30th Anniversary Shows
i rember going to see them just before they had a big record deal.i think it was at the marquee london and they would not let us in as it was full of a and r men.
then this guy turned up with a load of passes so we got in just.
rember the tour with the alarm was great and also the free glc gigs, i think that was brockwell park.
still play the first album today as it sounds fresh.
