Starting a new job today made me considerably happier than I was a couple of months ago!

They describe this one as a "permanent" job; let's see how long the feckin' thing lasts, shall we???!!!

I started my permanent job nearly 6 months ago. Now I'm booked to go on a "how to interview" workshop. This is just a few weeks after my team leader went on a "how to coach your team through change" course. Got my eye on an exit route...sort of.

I'm now working for the NHS, as a records clerk. Yeah, I know, public service cuts, etc., etc... Three redundancies in four years (followed by 18 months out of work) - not exactly the luck of the Irish, is it?! We shall see.

Fingers crossed your fears are unfounded - but at least they're giving you some training!

Yeah it's kind of them! I've spent so much time out of work I'm pretty much a pro at interviews.
You've got a job in amongst all the shake up and cuts. But, I suppose now you're in the NHS, it's a bit easier to move around it.

I don't mind long shifts, as long as there's something to do. I used to do 10 hours making glasses non-stop. Wonder how many eyesights were ruined.

Yeah I know an optician who did that, lost concentration for a few minutes, fell into the lens grinder and made a spectacle of himself.
