Desert Island Dicks

Post by Alias »

I, of course, mean Discs.

Ok, the ships gone down but a sun kissed island paradise,
replete with state of the art gramophone and ample power
supply is well within swimming distance.
But SHIT! If you cram any more than 10 cd's into your Bermuda
short pockets before diving to safety then the additional weight
will drag you down to Davy Jones locker faster than I have time to adequately describe here. By an even more infuriating quirk of fate
there is only one Stranglers album within grabbing distance (and it's
not a compilation), there's no box sets on board and double cd's count as 2 discs, obviously.

I managed to salvage:

Rattus Norvegicus - The Stranglers
The Harder They Come Soundtrack - Jimmy Cliff etc
The Complete Collection - The Kinks
Chronicle, Vol. 1: The 20 Greatest Hits - Creedence Clearwater Revival
Loaded - Velvet Underground
The Velvet Underground - Velvet Underground
The Best of Hank Williams - Hank Williams
The Man in Black: the Definitive Collection - Johnny Cash
Big Time Live Soundtrack - Tom Waits
Arkology - Lee 'Scratch' Perry

How well did you do?

Quite a nice spread there Alias

I would go with

La Folie
XTC - Apple Venus or Skylarking or Nonsuch
Buzzcocks - Singles Going Steady (shit this is a comp isn't it? ok Different Kind of Tension it is then)
Manics - Lifeblood
Hugh Cornwell - People:Places:Pieces (comp? if so then BEF)
Julian Cope - Fried or Saint Julian
Damned - Black Album
Pixies - Trompe Le Monde
Velvet Underground - Loaded
Captain Beefheart - Bluejeans and Moonbeams

Cool.

The compilation rule only applies to The Stranglers though, Best of's from others are permitted- but no box sets for anyone (even Hugh!)

fuck the CDs, I managed to get:

3 large Oak barrels,
A large bag of Winalot,
A Mercedes steering rack,
2 jars of gherkins,
A B.M.W. R1200S, minus front wheel and seat,
3 yellow flip flops (size 9 :( ),
A John Deere tractor transfer box,
An album of holiday snaps entitled "Corfu '92"
A selection of toiletries with missing labels,
3 full 50 gal. drums marked "Bio Hazard", which should make splendid water butts for the veg patch.

Nice.
I tried to make him laugh, He didn't get the joke, and then he said I wasn't right in the head.

Ah classical music- a man of distinction! I wondered about that myself, maybe some Satie perhaps? Prefer the 1st Maiden album myself though, Dianno did indeed rock.

Thanks mate, yes I like a bit of Wagner, I reckon he was the JJ of his day! :-) I do go to the odd opera but have to be in the right mood which is about twice a year lol.

I get sentimental about Killers on the strength that it was the first Maiden album I bought. There is something about bands early albums that I like it - maybe its the raw energy and rough production.
