7 hours does me. My daughter needs 9 and she is only 21. Depends on your metabolism, lifestyle, age, thyroid function, probably diet, exercise and stress levels and maybe a few other things.

I consider myself lucky to get 6.5hours sleep a night.

I know for a fact that Ravenette sleeps at least 12 hours a day, mostly hanging from the ceiling.

Yep, also heard 'I'll sleep when I die'. Thing is though, you won't, you'll die and you won't feel knackered, energetic or anything :D

Fatigue is a fucker so if you deprive yourself of sleep deliberately for the sake of being a 'get up & go' type, you'll regret it. That ain't being old it's being sensible. Only psycho's need 4 hours max sleep on a night ie Maggie Thatcher
Don't know if you've read any James Kelman, Bob, but he has a character in The Bus Conducter Hines who is so overtired he thinks he wouldn't mind being dead, "As long as I could wake up every now and then and appreciate I was getting a fucking rest."
 No I hadn't.
'Peaches - A Chronicle of The Stranglers from 1974 to 1990', out 2014 on Soundcheck Books.

Think I'll go for a stroll in the trees.

A third to sleep, a third for work and a third for yourself.
I wonder how much of the latter third has been spent listening to and chasing the Stranglers, afternoons on buses back in the day for the latest release and off to other towns and cities to watch them.
Not that I'm complaining, it's been great fun.

Have to admit Wonky Bus errr whatever number was the longest time Stranglers related. Not much sleep though, as I dimly recall. Unless you count 80 winks on the coach!
