Did someone say Wheelchair Rugby???

Post by Hammersmith1982 » 26 Oct 2015, 09:23

So we had our 3rd friendly yesterday against West Country Hawks which was at our home in Poole and they are a very good team, they bought a few of their 1st team down and the first match involved a few of their 1st team and lots of their 2nd team (I won't bother explaining the complications of the sport, so I'll just say 2nd team!!!)

They are a Division 2 team and having just lost 4 weeks before to the Division 2 Champions (The Solent Sharks) we were smarting a bit and to me not very confident, but we played well and at times they got 3/4 points ahead of us, and we managed to claw that back and go 1 point ahead at times.

Eventually the match finished at 32-32    We could and should have played better, but it's only our 3rd ever match and if we were about to enter the league I'd be worried, but we've got another 12 months to go, so time to fit in 10 more friendlies.

After this match, we played a 30 minute all out war match, where they bought out their top guns and we did the same. They won 10-13 which I've got to say is not a bad result at all all things considering

Today is a big day forward for the club. 5 of our players are playing for 2 different teams at Super Series (We are not in the League till late 2016) so we gave some of our players the chance to play matches with other teams.

So today all 5 of them are meeting up at 12.30 playing on the 2 different teams and not only that, but being refereed by my wife

I's a big step forward for The Dorset Destroyers. Considering we only started training 51 weeks ago.

If you're down Stoke Mandeville way today the matches are at 10.30, 12.30 (The big one) and 2.30.

Free to get in
