Who would you invite?

You're allowed up to ten people. You can have anyone alive, dead or fictional but only one Strangler. And who would do the cooking?

My current choices would be The Three Musketeers (all four of them), Captain John Yossarian, Richard Feynman, Haruki Murakami, Dave Greenfield, Alain de Botton and Terry Jones (as a token woman).

Nigel Slater would cater.

As my birthday is approaching (thank you, very kind, wine is a very acceptable gift) I thought I would have a reshuffle at my dinner table.

Those remaining are:
Two Musketeers - Athos and Porthos (suspect these two are the best drinking partners of the four)
Richard Feynman – quantum physics, life drawing and bongo playing, what more could a party need?
Yossarian – Catch-22, think he’d have some fun with the British situation at the moment.
Dave Greenfield – we could play a little competitive Sudoku.

Joining us
Inspector Montalbano – undecided whether to have the one from the books, the TV series or the Young TV series (my rules, they can alternate during the evening)
Vigdís Finnbogadóttir – many reasons but had to have an Icelander at the table.
Margaret Atwood – great novelist particularly on dystopias.
Srdja Popovic – Serbian activist who wrote “Blueprint for Revolution: how to use rice pudding, Lego men, and other non-violent techniques to galvanise communities, overthrow dictators, or simply change the world." Think he’d be a useful chap to know.

I'd have Martin Amis, Clive James and Christopher Hitchens (from the famous Friday Lunch Club described by all three in memoirs.)

JJ, the obvious but still best choice.

Irish comedian Tommy Tiernan who I could listen to all day.

Billy Connolly, 'nuff said.

From fiction, John Self ( Money by Martin Amis) who 'd be the firestarter.

And Robert Burns to start the sing-song.

(For a round ten I'd add Harry Redknapp for his football stories and Clint Eastwood because he's a legend.)

No one cooking, curries ordered in.
