Stranglers 40th year celebrations 2014

Post by db63 »

Interested to see what fans would like to see next year.
Apparently the band are talking about it.

i would love to see a comprehensive documentary on their career so far including interviews with band members past and present, serious musical journalist reviews and, some decent television airtime.

I would like to see some of the latter tracks from La Folie, maybe something else from Gospel and a smidgen of B Sides

Definitely a convention.

I'd love ALL of meninblack to be played.

I'd also love to see Hugh on the bill (bloody can of worms I'm opening there  ) but not as part of the Stranglers line up.

I'd also love to see Paul doing his thing on stage with Soulsec are whatever they were called.

And what about Ellis? He surely deserves a slot (maybe a Euroman set?).

A convention at a holiday camp, ala Pontins 2001. There was a great feeling of community with everyone, and the band, together at one site.

A book with plenty of input from the Stranglers themselves, lots of photos and lots of entertaining writing about the band up to 1990
Think I'll go for a stroll in the trees.

hoping so! I WAS aiming for Sept 11th but I think that's going to be too tough a target. Lots of ifs and buts, the only certainty being that it will be out sooner rather than later, even if it kills me

Some kind of documentary would be great to see.

Another Convention would be great to have

For the gigs that they do, do next year a very obscure set list would be great.

2 gigs same night
Part 1 1991-2013
Part 2 1976-1990
25 songs each gig

Now thats worth a 40th birthday bash instead of books and conventions and acoustic stuff.
Do what they do best up on stage live....
