Remembrance Day in Biggin Hill where I live, has a Spitfire called "The Spirit Of Kent" fly over the historic aerodrome to mark the occasion.

They lost people too , a lot of human life lost on all sides . I have a very different perspective on this day these days to my youth - then it was just a thing that affected our paretnts and their generations - now you see what they gave up or lost to defend freedom , choice , the future and you realise that we are very unlikely ever to be affected by events in quite such a way - it wasn't just the war but the after effects for many years after - so this should be a thing that caries on for many years , nit just for WW1 or WW2 dead , but for all wars maybe since then . WW1 now has no survivors of the fighting left , give it 20 or 30 years and it will be the samefor WW2 , but nevertheless it shouldn't be forgotten ..... not like Napoleonic wars which are now just dates in books .
All quiet ..........
