It's bollocks, haven't followed a single thing and I'm not going to either. Each to their own but how can it make you feel proud to be British????? It's an international event ffs, and as for the economic benefits, for who exactly besides a few multinational corporations and individuals who already have large sums of wealth, totally deluded! None of the wealth is going to trickle down to 'the people' of East London or the UK as a whole for that matter  'The people' have been kept out right from the word go thanks very much

Estimated extra income to the U.K. due to the event £17 Billion.
Estimated final cost of putting on the event £24 Billion.

Pardon my maths but......

It gives a lot of people something else to do...some form of entertainment in watching so many sports on TV, or even visiting the venues.

And if team GB do well then makes many people from this country feel good, a bit like watching the footy / cricket, or your favourite band for that matter.

But yeah forget the extra wealth stuff that is bullshit alright.

fair enough if you are into sport and bigging up your country, I'm not into either I'm afraid. I can't say I have enjoyed the whole political spectrum either, but it has been milidly amusing watching a private security giant being exposed as an utter sham, to think they want private companies to run nuclear bases now  !!!

I've not seen the big screen version Mel Gibson did, but I can safely say the 1980's BBC version was fucking quality, don't think a tv drama has topped it since and can't imagine a hollywood blockbuster really gettin it, but there ya go 8)

yep, almost certainly the best drama series I've ever seen. Stunning stuff. I've seen the Gibson film (I actually saw that first, so the TV series just seemed amazing) and it's alright but misses a lot of the layers that the series has.
