IT question
Morning all,
Can anybody help with the following? My PC is running very slow and I think its mainly to do with loads of applications running in the background, is there any way I can disable these during boot up?
Thanks in advance,
Bazza

Re: IT question
You should be able to change your start up applications by doing the folowing :
1. Click Start.
2. Type Run.
3. Click on "Run"
4. Type - msconfig
5. click ok
6. click on the "startup" tab
7. You will then see a list of applications that run on "startup".
8. Unckeck the ones you don't want to run and click OK.

Re: IT question
Wise words - I tend to sort by "Manufacturer" and unless it's MS or something I'm aware of I'll usually end it - Also, if in doubt bring Task Manager up. Look at what's currently running - if it's something you want to stop then kill it (better to do this first rather than to start removing things from booting up). Always make sure you have a "Restore Point" and the startup discs so it if does go to tits then you're in a position to rebuild (which isn't always a bad thing).
There's also "Services" as well but that's for another day I guess

Switch it off and back on again. I believe it's called 'power cycling'.

Give it a good hard whack with a hammer, and a liberal spray of WD40 through any holes you can spot in the outside, that should free things up a treat.
I tried to make him laugh, He didn't get the joke, and then he said I wasn't right in the head.

I can confirm that spitting beer through your nose, all over the monitor, does them no good at all.
