Re: UK Election 2010
Nice to see the most expensive MP was re-elected
The 1st MP to break through the £1Million in expenses. Travel the biggest majority as his family stay in the leafy suburb of Falkirk that is Kent
I despair of my fellow man sometimes

Don't think it mattered who got 'in' , I bet Scotchland will bear the brunt of the spending cuts

Re: UK Election 2010
SEATS WON PERCENTAGE OF THE VOTE
Conservative 306 36.1
Labour 258 29.0
Liberal Democrat 57 23.0
The FPTP has to end the Lib dems get 23% only 6% less than Labour but a massive 201 seats less, the conservatives have 7.1% more than Labour but only 48 seats more.
The commentators on thursday all said that FPTP was no good anymore and after years of non discussion that was nothing sort of amazing.
It's fine with just two main parties like the USA but here its not UKIP gets 1 million votes a tenth of the Tories vote but no seat.

Re: UK Election 2010
You don't hear of anyone who likes the Tories or who voted for them - no one I work with has admitted it , yet they have 36% of the vote.
Gordon Brown is probably the most hated person in this country and made Labour unelectable . I think people decided at he last moment that Lib Dems were not going to win and stuck with their usual vote . If proportional representation is going to be used in future , it looks like a hung parliament or minority government would be the norm rather than the exception . I don't think a party has had 50% or more of the vote in ages , certainly not modern times - and thats what a majority would probably require in prop representation .
