The more observant among you may have detected from my earlier outburst that I care not for the winter game that seems to fascinate so many others.
Now I like bikes and I like cars and to this end there exists a thread devoted to "Motors" and one for "Motorcycling". We of the mechanically inclined have not found it necessary to start new threads entitled "Kawasaki" followed by "Harley Davidson" and " then "Ducati", or indeed seperate threads devoted to the Ford Escort, the Vauxhall Cavalier or the '58 Chevy Impala ad infinitum, with only the very occasional new tangent popping up (such as last weeks discussion of the Morris Minor which started as a question about the lyrical content of a song by that well known beat combo The Stranglers).

Why then can the subject of 22 blokes chasing a bag of wind around a field not be confined to a single thread rather than the at least 11 current threads and numerous others in which fervent discussion of the topic occurs?

At the end of the day though there are more footie fans than Stranglers fans and it ain't that often footie topics pop up compared to other bands, The fab IV post and pre 1990.

Do you think perhaps that the 3 topics that you have cited as being more frequent than those that are football based
could just possibly be because the forum is devoted to music and The Stranglers in particular?

Of course there are more football fans than Stranglers fans, just as there are more people in the world who like oranges or prefer wallpaper to emulsioned walls, or prefer poached eggs to fried, do they all come on here and start endless new threads on their chosen passion?
No they do not, they seek out the web sites "Oranges are better than bananas .com" etc.
