Michael Jackson R.i.p

Post by wanderlust »

Whatever you think of the guy his contribution to pop music can't be ignored. This is a dark day for pop music.

I think the death of George Melly was a greater loss!

Yeah Wacko was a ledge - he was pop music. This will be bigger than Elvis and Lennon, the news channels have got running strips upon strips across their screens....! :|
If Dave was to use a Hammond L100 for just one more gig I'd die content.

...actually I feel a bit sad (much to my surprise). Yeah, he was weird and his music wasn't exactly to my taste but he was a true original and in a world of bland X Factor style pop copycats I think we should applaud that fact.

A genuine one-off. A genuine talent.

Yeah, sad.

I heard he was a big fan of Reggie Perrin.

Will he reappear as a zombie?

What's the chances of the promoter who peeps bought O2 Arena tickets from, going tits-up as well, with the cash dissappearing.

Very sad news. He was an incredible performer; I saw him a few years ago and was looking forward to seeing him next January. When buying tickets I realised there was a possibility that the gig wouldn't take place but didn't for a minute imagine that the "cancellation" would be in these circumstances.

I suspect that some people who already have tickets in hand will hang on to them as a souvenir or will inevitably still find people prepared to buy them on Ebay. The O2 Arena will now have to work hard though to find other acts to fill the 50 dates that are now vacant. Their website appears to be unavailable at the moment. I imagine staff there, and at all ticket agents, who had been looking forward to a relaxed Friday, now holding panic early morning meetings discussing how they are going to deal with this.
