I have read two Band of Brothers books. One Don Malarkey and the other Buck Compton on their lives before , during and after ww2 . Very interesting and different takes on events at times to Dick Winters or Stephen Ambrose (historian ) .

I've just finished the new John Grisham, "The Guardians", very good but quite a few stories merged into the single book which is reasonably unusual for him.

"The Oracle" by Clive Cussler and Robin Burcell. Enjoyable, but perhaps not as enjoyable as his usually are.

Jeremy Paxman 'The Victorians'. Looks at how contemporary paintings of the era recorded what it was really like.

"The Picasso Scam" by Stuart Pawson. I haven't read one of his for a few years, and they're getting on a bit now (so as a police story it's a bit outdated in some aspects) but it was still good.

A new history of Leeds United . Covers all including Bielsa era so far . Only disappointment to a previous one (1989ish I think ) is it doesn't have stats , tables or players etc . Purely a season by season review . Got the 2029/20 season Champions book on order too .

Broken Greek by Pete Paphides. A story of chip shops and pop songs.

Enjoyed this as being very close in age to the author I heard the same songs at the same time in life. A few mentions of the Stranglers although Pete's not really a fan (except for GB) and describes his younger self as having a phobia of Dave.

How in the world would one discover they had a phobia of Dave? Surely proximity to Dave is a prerequisite.

As seen on TV and grouped with fears of Rod Hull and Emu, Little Jimmy Osmond and biting into mushrooms.
"Dave Greenfield, jabbing at his keyboard while looking straight ahead with what seemed, beyond doubt, to be the eyes of a murderer - an effect somehow compounded by the army surplus boiler suit"
