Further clarification: I was obviously sat at the north level crossing because if I'd been at the one to the south then the south bound train would have been pulling out of the station and the north bound train...you get the picture.

But it would be more interesting with diagrams.

I think the train company in question were at fault on this occasion.

Delays at level crossings result in backed up road traffic and a destablised traffic signal system

The whole area is destabilised. The only traffic control round here are the level crossings. And the badly parked Porsches abandoned when their owners run to catch the trains; obviously we speed up when we see those.

Its a toss up between Croydon and Manchester for Trams possibly Croydon for me because you can get mowed down by a Tram in Manchester at any time.
