In the immortal words of Sir Burn e 77...
F*cking Ace!
It was packed in there last night. Sound was excellent.
Jet was super on form.
we were treated to a blistering up tempo Burning Up Time
Great to meet sparta7.
Happy bunnies all round.
Shook JJ's hand.
Top night!
And the Godfathers were great too!

Sounds like a great night mate. What song did Burning up Time replace?

English Towns maybe? Anyway, it was played between Genetix & Golden Brown (ha ha, nurdy obsessive Setlist Taker proves useful - at last!).Alexinblack wrote:Sounds like a great night mate. What song did Burning up Time replace?

Agree with Elvis - this was a great show and a big improvement on the Birmingham show I saw the week before.
The sound was great (which always helps) and the band were in high spirits throughout. In my experience the band's mood is often a reflection of JJ's and last night he was in a playful zone which created a very positive atmosphere on stage. The bloke barely stopped smiling and that became infectious - not least when Dave cocked up on Golden Brown and JJ' and Jet shared big smiles as if to say 'how many times has he played that.....'
Song highlights? Relentless was immense again (the best post Hugh song ever) and there were particularly good outings for Duchess, NOrfolk Coast, a blistering Burning Up Time (which replaced Bitching), Tank, Toiler, TWOOMS and Straighten Out. Heroes also nearly took the roof off and I would loved to have heard the two drummers on THAT one. Any disappointments? Actually no. At a push I would say Freedom wasn't as effective as I have heard it before and I think they overdid the 'disco camp' bit for Thrown Away but these were minor quibbles as this was generally a strong, powerful and very, very well received set.
Good night, good company, good venue, good crowd and great music. It. Was. Fun.
Vive Le Stranglers!

Re: Bristol 23-3-13 Review
Stunning gig last night, almost but not quite as good as the Roundhouse, got there early and saw JJ, Baz and Dave and got some stuff signed and they were in good spirits.
Good to see familiar faces in the Hatchet before
Godfathers were ok, they seem to be ever so slighlty growing on me
The place was packed to the rafters again when the Stranglers came on, a very responsive crowd saw the guys fly through another fine set, highlights were again Relentless(I said to Baz before that this was the best track of the tour for me and he seemed slightly suprised).
Genetix also with JJ and Jet right in front of us was stunning, good to see BUT but ATS was back but did go down very well.
It was over far too soon and out we go into the cold Bristol night to the Kebab shop for some much needed post gig fuel.
Another mighty fine night in the company of the best band ever.
Roll on Salisbury.
