Nope, I'm not getting excited about this one - acoustically at least... and yes, it's also a bit reminiscent of that LR song. I was racking my brain trying to figure out what it was.

The JJ in his melancholy phase is done so well throughout the years. I really want another "since you went away' but this is worlds apart. I think his soul wants it but he just can't do it

I am not sure, though it sounds a bit like a Nick Cave song (what I like),though a bit too sentimental?

Hopefully it will sound better on the album with some atmospheric keyboards.

I think it’s the best of the acoustic songs I have heard from the album so far

If the album version has any 'warm' Hammond pads I'm going to stab my speaker cones with a screwdriver....

Is it from the Coup de Grace period ? Speed it up, or slow it down with the Playback speed settings :smt020

I think one unintended favour Hugh did JJ in his Song Stories book, was to highlight his operatic delivery on occasions, which may not have been the most effective style.

Since then, JJ seems to have settled into his natural voice, and I think this track highlights it really well.
I personally thought his performance in the video was brilliant

After several listens I really like this song, as I said JJs voice has matured like a fine French wine, and Baz looking cool in his infamous shades and lovely guitar sound.Lt Kudu.

I agree with the comment on JJs voice. I think he doubts his vocal. He looks a little awkward in the vid tbh. I do quite like this though even though I can't stop singing the Lionel Ritchie bit.

Yeah, I'm the same although I think that's four songs now that are a bit downish. Maybe that's why it's called Dark Matters!
