Awful. It's what a Baz solo album sounds like I guess?

And that watery, studio preset Hammond sound that used to get bolted onto MOR/AOR songs to add "soul" in the ayydeez...yuk.

Video's a nice change though.

Can't say it does anything for me, though it's not terrible, just a bit twee. Feels like it should be a b-side.
I suspect that after completing 8 songs for the album, they struggled, during lockdown, to come up with a few more, in order to fill an album.

But what happened to the 150,000 ideas?

Sounds like the music to the end credits of a drama programme about old men. I appreciate this is just a small section of the song. Hope it kicks in!

I think this is the song in it's entirety - from the website:

"The forthcoming album Dark Matters contains a quirky, but simple, little gem entitled The Lines.
Its lyrics are a delicate & emotive vignette on the visible signs of ageing. Its music features acoustic guitar with a hint of keyboards all captured in one take in the recording studio. The track also has an accompanying promo video which portrays the song’s feeling perfectly…"

Then that's a shame IMO - Surely, out of the 200,000 song ideas there's better options.

I guess the hundreds of ideas JJ had are just fragments - riffs, snatches of melody etc but without songs to hang them on they're useless - unless formed into instrumentals or experimental tracks?

I've no doubt that Baz probably has lots of songs up his sleeves but in isolation they're not remotely Stranglerish - as The Lines demonstrates.

Hmm, that's pretty poor imo.

No one said they were good ideas.
