JJ interview with Dave Mason 14/5/21
Dave Mason (long time fan, friend and interviewer of the band) had a chat with JJ this afternoon on his Radio Bath show.
For those who missed it, a quick summary:
JJ was halfway to England by car earlier this week, when he had to turn around due to a positive Covid test result Looks like it may have been a false positive, as he's feeling fine and has no symptoms, but obviously they wouldn't let him leave France / enter the UK.. Needless to say he is pretty pissed off!!
There was some discussion about the album and the single, nothing we haven't already heard, and Dave played the single in full before the interview and in the background during some of it, reminding listeners that it is released today
Dave asked about the keyboard player, and JJ answered that he'd met a guy about 20 years ago in the studio who had studied Dave G's playing, had played in a Stranglers tribute band, and who was a member of another band who were doing quite well JJ absolutely would not reveral his name, saying he was keeping that for later
There was also some chat about JJ's house in France, what he'd been up to during lockdown, how often he was in touch with the rest of the band etc.
At the end JJ said how much he was missing the rest of the guys and how much he was missing playing live, he is very keen to get back out there when he can!
A really good interview, thank you Dave and of course JJ

Thanks for this concise summary, sounds great.
That must be frustrating for JJ with the positive test, but sounds like it's most likely a false positive as you say.
Intriguing about the keyboard player. I'm still none the wiser haha.

Good interview boy he tried to keep plugging and playing the Dave song again and again which can only be good in terms of public exposure it all helps to get them noticed. Then three acoustic tracks with paul JJ and JE which wasnt really my cup of tea,but moving on it was good that the public heard the Dave song, also intresting i thought JJ talking about the car that was used in the dave video.

I'm sure I heard that before. Paul Roberts joins him next week and he will play another session apparentlyparasiteinblack wrote:Face, Paradise Row, Lucky Finger according to that radio sessions thread I started a while back.

Presumably those are some of the tracks that were on the Dave Mason interview CD all those years back.

So ,this band the new keyboard player was in were succesful band 20 years ago. We simply look at all bands who were doing well then find which one with stranglers tribute band experience on keys, and we have the answer to who the mystery man is.
