Would they be comfortable playing to thousands of people?
Of course they are, otherwise they would not have been hired!
sure but that assumes they have been hired. All I'm saying is that playing in a tribute band to 40 or 50 people in a pub must be a bit different to playing in the Hammersmith Apollo or Brixton Academy!

Well anyway I'm not musician so perhaps it's all the same...

Fair point, a tribute player i feel as a musician who already has learnt and can play fluently daves material and enjoys what hes playing a fan himself to the very same fans for years i think can't get any better on your CV.Yes they are used to a much smaller audience i agree there too, but most musicians who are used to the bigger venues all get nervous before going out on stage which often never leaves the.So a tribute player would in pinciple be most suited and would hopefully slot in the the existing band very quickly,we all hope so and would be behind whoever they do bring in and make him feel most welcomed to the stranglers family.

A tribute keyboard player will sound exactly like the studio recording whereas Dave might have drifted from the original over the years.
Also the studio recording could have been a take that Dave only played once.
I'm not knocking Dave's genius by the way just throwing an opinion into the mix.

That's an interesting point, and not one that occurred to me - food for thought...

The new keyboard player will have had extensive gigging experience as a professional musician rather than playing to 50 people in a tribute band
