GB Is a song I never get tired of hearing.I prefer hughs vocals, but when the current line up play it i still enjoy it.I wen't through a period of hating it at school back in 1982,when kids would come up to me and say "Matt ive bought GB".It was like i was like the stranglers promo kid for my school.

Whether your tired of hearing it or not, it won't be dropped. Simply too crucial to the set
Shove it up yer bollocks then!

I don't think it sounds particularly good live most of the time I've heard it. Sort of too rough around the edges for that sort of track.

There are some exceptions to that, the one time I really enjoyed it & thought it sounded beautiful was on a Euro tour at the Milan gig a couple years ago now..

Ive always enjoyed it live but the best version I've heard was by Hugh at Guilfest last year. It made the hairs on your arms stand up!

I remember a great GB version in Paris a couple of years ago, with Caz on bass. Amazing.

Took my wife to see The Stranglers for the first time a couple of years back and she thought (compared to the studio version) 'GB' was dreadful and thought it was the worst song in the set they played. She came out liking 'Curfew', 'Genetix' and 'Sewer' but hated the one that everyone that's not into the band is supposed to like. Ironically on the same tour my mate took his son (to a different gig and his son's first stranglers gig) and he had a similar opinion about 'GB' and came away from the gig not talking about the hits but the more obscure album tracks (apparently Jet's Genetix drum intro made his night!!) My own opinion about 'GB' is similar the song has never ever (IMHO) been done well live (since 1981). Strange Little Girl on the other hand is brilliant live and I've always loved having it in the set. 8)
Hugh - "We had gangs of skinheads coming along trying to cause problems and stuff"
Rick Wakeman - "How did you deal with it?"
Hugh - "Our bass player used to jump off the stage and beat the shit out of them!"
