Best album cover of all time though (by any band) is Black and White in my humble opinion.

You got that right.

“Have you seen the cover?” he asks.

Yes.

“What do you think the cover is?” he replies, more enigmatically than seems necessary.

The photo of the playground? Nooses?

“OK…” he answers after a meaningful pause.

Is that not the cover then?

“No,” he says after a pause, clearly relishing the game.

We both laugh, but my attempts to prompt more details are met only with Burnel’s admission that “ I’d love to tell you, but it would spoil the surprise. We’ve already had people complaining about what they think is the cover. Wait till they get the proper cover…”

Like the 'SLG with Nooses, playground scene', but think the potential glimpse we briefly saw on the redisigned web-page test site was better.
Then I got tired of counting all of these blessings, and then I just got tired.

Agreed.
Dunno if it was just because it was such a brief glimpse that it stayed in my mind more,
but found myself musing on it this morning on the way to work...

Voted for excellent - very fitting. It just seems right for a Stranglers album cover and is the most arresting album cover the band have had in ages.

In the "original" cover (i.e. just the nooses) is there a hidden face in the trees or is just my imagination? :?

In the hanging bodies shot it would be partly obscured by JJ's left leg. If I can work out how to do it, I'll try and get the pic uploaded (if I can work out how to).
