Went to the Star in Guildford last night with the missus. Didn't want to miss the opportunity to hear those songs in the back room of this pub where The Stranglers first gigged back in 1974. There's even a plaque marking the event on the wall which was a nice touch. Sadly, due to non-existent promotion by the venue and proximity to Christmas, the turnout was very poor (9 people!), probably the same sized crowd that the Stranglers pulled 37 years ago. Despite that, the band played their full 105 minutes and gave it their all. Apparently it's the smallest crowd they've played to and they made quite a loss on the gig...
Did someone say "Wonky"?

Shame about the poor turn out :smt013 :smt013 :smt013 :smt013

Really feel for guys when that happens.

Maybe a better model would be like when they played Bathgate with Cash From Chaos, as the local band, who promoted and ensured it was a sell out.
Henry Clunie enjoyed himself

"They don’t come much better than The Stranglers when performing live; there is no pretence, no hiding place, just superb music"
