Transmission - Joy Division Tribute Band

Post by Audreyinblack »

Went along to see Transmission last night in Dundee, they were pretty good.

On checking their site they seem to tour all over the UK & Europe so if they're playing near you they're well worth going to see 8)

The Doghouse is quite a small venue but there was a fair crowd of mixed ages enjoying the sounds & also in the audience there was an Ian Curtis lookalike who even swayed about like him - it was eerie.

Been listening to JD again since the film 'Control' came out 8)

Always been a bit gutted that I never saw them live although saw New Order a few times

There had been a lot of people with hairs tingling on the back of their necks on Friday night

Snap. Saw them steal the show supporting the Buzzcocks at Bangor University.

Snap. Support to Buzzcocks at Edinburgh Odeon. I preferred the Buzzcocks on the night, but that's maybe because I'd only heard two JD songs before the show. 8)

Thought I was on wrong side of the tracks there for a minute ?......
I've seen Transmission 4 or 5 times now....they've been touring 2 or 3 years now & are a lot better now with a new keyboards man. For those who have not ventured, they do not look like JD but the sound is pretty close.......decent lads too !
Went to see them at MoHo Live in Manchester in May - they are also on near Manachester at The Witchwood in Ashton (about 8 miles away) in October - worth a look even if it's only a means to an end ?!!.........

Funny enough i managed to catch JD once as well, again it was supporting the Buzzcocks on their Tension Tour at the Glasgow Apollo in Oct 79! My mate and i made the effort to get in early so we could catch Joy Division, and we weren't dissapointed. Great memories of Mr Curtis dancing his mad dancy thing at the front of the high Apollo stage, we were captivated. :smt023
I remember seeing the Buzzcocks on the Friday night (5th Oct) then no other than the Stranglers on the Raven Tour on the Sunday (7th Oct) and then on the Tuesday it was the turn of the Boomtown Rats on their Surfacing Tour!! Hectic, but busy times indeed.
Still, Joy Division were great and i checked em out in more depth after that gig. Still love the 1st album!!
Will keep an eye out for this band and hopefully get the chance to check em out.
Cheers 8)
AT THE END OF THE DAY.........ITS NIGHT!!
