Re: Strangler in the light
I hardly think the size of venues Hugh has been playing recently could be compared to a toilet! Anyway, you're missing the point even if that's the case as JJ prefixed his statement with "Hugh must be bitter....." Jim "Toilet" is a well-known euphemism for "small music venu...

Re: Strangler in the light
"Toilet" is a well-known euphemism for "small music venue", it has been in use for literally decades.
I don't think JJ was being ironic - Hugh plays much smaller venues as a headline act than the Stranglers do.
This is just objective fact.

Re: Chainlink (Hardcore Punk)
Pre-orders for our debut album are now go: https://chainlinkuk.bandcamp.com/album/semi-autocratic Pink LP edition is available... It's better than the EP... I wrote the music to 3 or 4 of them so they have a bit of a Stranglers bass edge to them. One of those is the next single, "The Moderator&...

Re: New merch
Its rather Odd that Hugh is relegated to the size of Paul and John,I guess that sums up JJs opinion of Hugh at the moment.Major Kudu. Paul and Hugh were both in the band for the same sort of length of time, and neither have been in the band for a very long time now. I know it's jarring to have them...

Re: The most 80s sounding album
Remember the drum track on Feline is Jet playing a Simmons kit and not a drum machine. He is actually playing those parts in the studio.
Took a long while for me to warm up to but I wouldn't have it any other way now, it's very distinctive and striking.

Re: Bands the members of The Stranglers like
Have we mentioned the Kinks yet? Hugh was certainly taking some cues from them around the 10 era.

Re: Your not so good gig experiences.
My least favourite Stranglers live experiences btw were the lacklustre one in Cambridge in 2017, and then the general strangeness of the last time I saw them as Dave is no longer around of course. I think all the other times were pretty great, with my favourite probably being that December 2004 one ...

Re: Your not so good gig experiences.
Wouldn't have been '90 toiler, cos the first Paul gigs were in '91. Here's the setlist so you're right about 5 mins. Also, and it almost feels mean to bring this up, but you've asked a few times whether they played Laughing At The Rain live, and it turns out you were there when they did it haha. htt...
