Re: RIP Fletch (Depeche Mode)
Love Depeche Mode, especially the later, darker stuff.
Fletch always seemed the most reliable, least erratic of the group.
I suppose nowadays we should never be surprised by our heroes leaving the stage early but it's noticeable how many people this has obviously struck a chord with.

Re: Toby interview
A fascinating insight in that interview. What a humble guy - as he seems to aim for anyway? No surprises about updating the keyboard sounds. It’s been my one complaint for years. Particularly wrt Oberheim sounds. I d like to think of myself as complete non expert in this areas but my ears don’t lie....

Re: Porcupine Tree
He is indeed. Even wrote the title track with Andy P on his “To The Bone” album. He has always been labelled prog but he covers many different areas. The two new preview songs for the album are a pretty good reflection of Porcupine Tree. Some nice chord changes, driving metal chunks, wonderful atmos...

Porcupine Tree
Any fans on here? Just finished Steven Wilson's excellent book. Got into them 7 or 8 years ago, when the song "Deadwing" appeared as a suggested tune by Spotify - a rare occasion of hitting the mark! Turns out I have one degree of separation with them, from a former bandmate SW described X...

Wet Leg
I had never heard of them till they went straight in at No 1 in the albums chart last week. I have to say that it ‘s the strongest debut I’ve heard in a long time, shades of PJ Harvey, Bjork mixed in with some surfer guitar, strong production and the catchy wit of the B52s. Singer has an amazing voi...

Re: Last book read
I’ve got less than two hours left in the nearly ten hour audiobook version of Steven Wilson’s kinda-autobiography. I listen to a lot of podcasts, including his excellent Album Years podcast, and also audiobooks, and with him reading it, I thought I’d go for that format. So far has surpassed expectat...

Re: Who are you seeing (other than the stranglers) this year?
I admit it. I managed to get some tickets to see Ed Sheeran at the Concorde 2 in Brighton. Holds about 600. Not my type of music but was interested to see how he would now go down in the sort of small club where he first started off. Tbh, it blew me away. Can’t recall seeing a more talented all roun...

Re: New Rat Chat out
I’m not sure I can hear anyone being as good as peak Mk1 tbh. I was having a think about this HC remaining a quality songwriter thing, and I genuinely cannot hear it. I thought I’d jog my memory and have a look through the Spotify discography. Honestly, except for Dead Of Night, I can’t see one memo...

Same with Ware. Great series of interviews. I’m just listening to part 2 of his Mark White chat.theraven1979 wrote: ↑20 Mar 2022, 22:26 Gregory has a great podcast at the moment.

Indeed.
He succeeded in really annoying me, so fair play to him
