Re: New Rat Chat out
I’m not sure I can hear anyone being as good as peak Mk1 tbh. I was having a think about this HC remaining a quality songwriter thing, and I genuinely cannot hear it. I thought I’d jog my memory and have a look through the Spotify discography. Honestly, except for Dead Of Night, I can’t see one memo...

Same with Ware. Great series of interviews. I’m just listening to part 2 of his Mark White chat.theraven1979 wrote: ↑20 Mar 2022, 22:26 Gregory has a great podcast at the moment.

I said still continuing, not making up.
In some fictional universe.where Hot Cat On A Tin Roof, Harry Power, Known Unto God and Miss You (both versions ) don’t exists.
Actually, sounds quite a happy place!

Re: Ground control Paris
The frightening thing is imagining a still continuing Mk 1 Stranglers, Hugh and JJ in separate transport, not a glance at each other on stage, topping up their pensions, while grinding out School Mam (I was at Ally Pally!) or some other cr**. While a very different beast to the glory days I witnesse...

Re: The Clash vs The Stranglers
They are part 2 of my triumvirate of overrate.
3 bands who I can never understand why they generate such adulation with such patchy output.
(1) The Stones
(2) The Clash
(3) Primal Scream

Re: Reading the review the final full UK Tour?
I am very much looking forward to seeing the abba-tars of Agentha and Frida in London later this year. Not so, Benny and Bjorn! All done by industrial light and magic. Live band backing them And apparently a completely immersive media and light show. Although I am very clear Im not actually seeing t...

Re: Brighton?
I was at Brighton with my son, upstairs this time unlike Guildford a couple of weeks before, where I was downstairs with the hoardes. We turned up as the Ruts were finishing, which was no great musical loss to me. I wandered out to get a beer during their set in Guildford, as I found their solid sou...

Re: Merchandise on current tour.
I went (again) to Brighton tonight.
Bargain is the tour poster -£5, with the “ Final Full UK tour” & “In Memory Of Dave” at the top.
Unlike Guildford a couple of weeks ago, they now also have Dark Matters vinyl, signed by JJ, Baz & Jim. £35.

Re: XTC
Agreed
I’m not a particular fan of the Barry years. Odd one or two songs are ok.
But Drums and Wires is where XTC really took off for me.

Re: This current Stranglers is still The Stranglers.
Totally agree Sir, and Jim is a fantastic drummer I should know as I've played most of Jet's patterns over the years and some are really tricky but Jim is a tour de force in the skins, no drug references intended. Lt Jama. I have a mate who is world class pro drummer, awards winner, etc. He really ...
