Yeah like after the first set or during the encore or something like that. I do thlnk JJ would'nt mind as much as Baz tho, he seems like he dislikes Hugh the most.

Maybe thats it - the animosity against hugh is just to reassure baz he's JJ favourite band wife.

I can see why JJ was mad at hugh, but i can also see why hugh left the band how and when he did.

I think hes blaming hugh for what the stranglers became in the 1990s. Its difficult for him to forget because every setlist is a reminder.

Maybe the interviewer felt uneasy about probing too much, JJ didnt say more, so it was left awkwardly as something not to be dwelt on?

It might have been better left out completely, but even that wouldnt seem right if JJ said it.

Really, this anniversary only means something to him and JJ. Theres no one else around who was there 50 years ago. Fans will remember first gigs, or album releases, but nothing about 1974.

I suppose what hes saying is that stranglers wouldnt have survived wilderness years with hugh. Lack of hits would lead to no record contract and they may have imploded. But the idea that 1980s stranglers were stale and hugh leaving injected creativity into the band is delusional.
