Re: Online security
Almost. Apparently it's now one of those smarty-pants circular acronyms beloved of the Linux crowd: "PHP: Hypertext Pre-Processor". (http://www.php.net/manual/en/history.php.php)

Re: Things your parents say about your fave bands
My mum was quite partial to X Certs, though I always had to race to turn down "did someone say wanker?" When I first got my copy of X Certs (my first Stranglers album) we only had one stereo, it was in the living room, and I had to play it on there. No-one said anything, but there was an ...

Re: Why Wilco on Jools instead of The Stranglers
It is interesting seeing this thread on here as only a month ago I mailed the Jools Holland show (twice) via their website and asked if The Stranglers would ever be asked to appear on Later but as yet not had a reply and I suspect I never will. Not even a generic response like "thankyou for yo...

William: Kate? Kate: Yes, darling? William: Try not to look, but I think a bird has shat on your Dad's lapel. You know, like on those Stranglers T-shirts? Themencoveredinbirdshit? Kate: I know. I can't turn round though, he's holding my hand so hard it's difficult to keep a straight face. I don't th...

Re: Jimmy Savile
I seem to recall in a documentary (perhaps the Louis Theroux one) that he'd gone to a lot of trouble to make sure that no "inappropriate" rumours could ever be started, though he did a lot of work with kids he appreciated that as a single bloke he was wide open to all sorts of stories and ...

Re: Recommend Me Some Ale Please.
Most of my favourites have already been mentioned, but there's a few stronger ones that have a nice flavour: Moonraker by J W Lees is a lovely dark beer, haven't seen it on draught for a long time though. Also Black Sheep "Riggwelter" is nice.

Wilko on "Later Live"
Noticed Wilko Johnson was on "Later Live" last night - did a reasonable version of "She Does it Right" and a brief interview with Jools Holland where it turns out Wilko speaks Latin. And, comes from Canvey Island. He had the usual band of Norman Watt-Roy and Dylan Howe with him, ...

Re: The Who to support The Stranglers : Caption Competition.
What's that rope actually tied to? Eye-watering torture indeed ...  [anorak] In the book, there was a hinged flap underneath the seat, and tugging on the rope caused it to "make contact". In the film I think it's a rope with something heavy on the end that he swings at Mr B...

Re: Formula 1
The Beeb will still show all the races, but only half of them will be the complete race, the rest will be highlights only. As many of the races are pretty boring for much of the time, that doesn't sound like much of a loss to me, especially as the choice was this way or no coverage on the BBC at all...

Blondie BBC2 session
Flicking through the channels last night I was surprised to see "Blondie" on BBC Red Button, turns out they were doing a repeated play of their recent BBC2 session for Ken Bruce filmed at Maida Vale studios. I guess it was repeats as it was listed for 7.25pm to 2am, then again for 2am to 9...
