Re: Dark Matters - Extra Tracks
The whole band were going through the motions - Hugh was only one person on that stage that night, and there were a fucking lot of people on that stage. Fair point although not sure Dave was any less enthusiastic than normal. But agree as a collective there was a spark lacking. Only picked Hugh out...

Re: Dark Matters - Extra Tracks
Was there too - The Godfathers were really good!! Toiler was one of the better tracks - thought Strange Little Girl was decent - but defo Hugh was going through the motions that day IMO.

Re: dark matters chart chances
Don’t agree. First few listens I probably liked the obvious catchy ones. Each play now I’m picking up different nuances from the slow burners - definitely a sign of a quality album. It really is very good.

Re: Dark Matters - Initial Thoughts/Reviews
Yep fair point I agree re his tribute video very good so spose how Rialto sounded a bit irrelevant in the scheme of things if he’s the best fit.

Re: Dark Matters - Initial Thoughts/Reviews
When his name was mentioned last year I listened to some Rialto. Only listened to a handful of songs but was surprised there was hardly any keyboards on them and what there was - chords filling - no arpeggios etc. You would have thought if he was good enough to play Dave’s stuff there would be more ...

Re: BBC breakfast
Yeah bit if a missed trick not getting a clip of the This Song video shown - especially as Dan Walker is such a big footballer fan. Maybe they weren’t allowed. Shame - although the rest was quite good.

Re: Down - acoustic track
Based on some people’s comments on here and some reviews the tracks have been likened to:
Giorgio Moroder
Lionel Ritchie
Leonard Cohen
Soft Cell
Kraftwork
ELO
The Disciples of Spess
And a couple sound like The Stranglers!
So certainly eclectic!

Re: If something's going to kill me...
I’m not surprised really that BBC R6 doesn’t have it on their playlist. I listen to R6 on and off and even a quick listen of 30 minutes you’ll find most songs are much quicker tempo and have a bit of edge. Unfortunately If Something’s Gonna Kill Me…does sound a bit MOR especially to people who would...

Well Jim doesn’t appear to be in the band either - and he gets the odd mention (although never by JJ or Baz)!

Re: Dark Matters review
I still like both camps but I do wonder sometimes when I watch Hugh playing some pub in front of 30 people where he has to carry his own gear if he misses the excitement of say playing Brixton Academy with the great atmosphere and professional feel.

Re: If something's going to kill me...
We’ll I was feeling quite chipper before watching the video! Was waiting for the twist - mistaken identity or something. Nope - son goes off to war - son dies - parents fall out - then if that wasn’t bad enough - nuclear Holocaust. - Bummer! Putting on The Funeral Party by The Cure to cheer myself up!
