Well they would play a few on a tour promoting that very record. They did a handful on the La Folie tour but after that, not so much.

Re: 50th Anniversary Setlist?
I don't get the clamour for Gospel stuff, myself.I wasn't too fussed even when Hugh was doing it.It isn't live material for me.It was more or less abandoned by the original line up in the early to mid eighties. That's without googling.I stand corrected.

Re: 50th Anniversary Setlist?
On the Coup de Grace tour in 98 Paul left the stage whilst JJ performed Raven and In the End.There should have been more of that.Ridiculous someone else singing JJ songs when the man himself was right there on stage.

Re: 50th Anniversary Setlist?
Quick question has Baz ever sung North Winds live ? Paul did the best live version of it I've heard...or is it now back to JJ now there's no Paul? I've never heard Baz ever take it on from what is one incredibly wriiten and composed song and it's music. I can only assume you never saw the Strangler...

Re: Strangler in the light
I saw Thin Lizzy, without Phil Lynott, but with all the other original members (Scott Gorham, Brian Robertson & Brian Downey) I couldn't think of a better way to enjoy Thin Lizzy music live, without Phil Lynott. In the same way, if you want to hear Stranglers music live, you will see The Strang...

Re: Strangler in the light
JJ must feel a little uncomfortable with this Stranglers 50th anniversary stuff even though he will never admit to it.It's a bit like celebrating a 50th wedding anniversary with a third wife, from the day married to the first one

Re: Killing Joke
A little inappropriate at the moment if I may say.theraven1979 wrote: ↑28 Nov 2023, 16:09 I'd say that's the end but then I've seen a band lose their main singer/songwriter/guitarist in 1990 then the keyboardist and drummer die to leave 1 original bassist standing and they're still going.

Re: Strangler in the light
I can understand Hugh not being forgiving because the legacy of a fantastic band has been tainted since 1991.Hugh will always somehow be associated with Written in Red and Giants because of the band name, even though he had nothing to do with those records.

Re: Strangler in the light
I do find that his comments about Hugh sound like he’s never really got over the fact that he left. It's obvious that he's still not over Hugh but the sad thing is he can't see it.He doesn't even realise he is showing it.Nothing would please me more than to see a picture of them both sat down toget...

Re: Strangler in the light
Apologies if this has been posted before. JJ talking a little bit about Hugh the other week at the book launch - could not find in thread. "Hugh leaving gave the band longevity" to laughter and applause from his bum kissers. What gives the band longevity is all those great songs from 77-90...
