Re: How do you discover new bands?
Usually by recommendations from friends or because they support a band I've gone to see.

I haven't heard it yet but I'll get around to it.jetblacksdad wrote: ↑15 May 2017, 20:04 I think Mark Lanegan's new album, Gargoyle is really excellent.
Anyone else a fan??
I've liked a lot of his stuff going all the way back to 'Screaming Trees'.

John Foxx 'The Golden Section Tour & The Omnidelic Exotour'. Not new but new to me. Live recordings from 1983 and 1997. Double CD released in 2002. The Mutants 'Your Desert My Mind'. The latest from Chris Constantinou, Paul Frazer and Rat Scabies (with many guest artists including 'The Dandy War...

Listening to 'The Doctors Of Madness' to get me in the mood for seeing them next Tuesday.
Well, seeing half of them at least. :)

Re: Naz Nomad and the Nightmares
It's covered in Barry Hutchinson's book; 'After The Lights Go Out: A Biography of The Phantom Chords' (First published August 2015). Due to Captain Sensible's solo success from 1982 onwards he wasn't around to work on new material for 'The Damned' so Dave Vanian and Roman Jugg decided to start a 'si...

Re: Naz Nomad and the Nightmares
A good, fun side project. The 'band' ran concurrently with 'The Phantom Chords' and the line-up was interchangeable. I saw both bands about 10 times in the 80's and 90's and the live sets were also interchangeable. But despite being a huge fan of 'The Damned' I have to say I prefer the original vers...

Re: The Metallica tour ticket price reaction thread
Much as I appreciate that people have different musical tastes and some people like Metallica personally I could count the number of their songs I like on one hand. And that would be the hand of a three fingered dwarf. Last time I paid £70 I got TWO tickets and that was for Camden Rocks where there'...

Poly Styrene documentary.
I'm sure I've mentioned this before but I really can't find it. There's a 'crowd funder' for a documentary about Poly Styrene. It's raised 49% of a £70,000 flexible goal but there's only 6 days left. I hope they extend the deadline but if any old punks are interested..... https://www.indiegogo.com/p...

Die Toten Hosen new album
As some you might remember the German band 'Die Toten Hosen' released an excellent 'covers' album called 'Learning English Lesson 1' (first released in 1991). Now they've finally recorded 'Lesson 2', again with many guests who are mostly members of the bands who recorded the originals. It will initi...

Dave Gahan was talking about those gigs at the Bridge House on Joe Wiley's show last night!! Were you the Man with the Dog standing at the Bar?? I don't have a dog and don't remember one. But they did do about 5 dates in that December so maybe the dog was at the vets the night I was there....
