Re: Favourite Western? So many to choose.

For a Few Dollars more is my favourite, Lee Van Cleef is absolutely superb in this film. Once Upon A Time In The West is a classic too! You can’t beat the spaghetti westerns.

Re: Still waiting?

If it’s any conciliation I’m having to send my record back. Skips none stop. Pretty sure I saw someone else mentioning that on here too…

Re: Feature Classic Rock

Mad Hatter is without a doubt on of the worst songs any Stranglers lineup released. In One Door should have been on the album, would have been an excellent choice to end AS with. I find Mad Hatter quite inoffensive, but ultimately I agree - I think Aural Sculpture could only have been strengthened ...

Re: Feature Classic Rock

I’m with jetblacksdad on this one, for me Relentless is a classic Stranglers track, write up there with their best; whereas Mad Hatter is one of the poorest things the Stranglers have written and recorded across their 18 albums. Ah...that driving, rasping bass, that sinewy twang of the telecaster a...

Re: Dark Matters - Initial Thoughts/Reviews

I do think Baz’s style as a guitarist suits The Stranglers far more than John Ellis. and Hugh's style as guitarist fits The Stranglers the most. They're all different guitarists, though. Hugh is a naturally inventive post-punk guitarist, Ellis is quite technical with a very fluid style who had zero...

Re: Dark Matters - Initial Thoughts/Reviews

I've barely listened to the new one since release day, but I did dig out About Time earlier on today for the sake of comparison and MKII's 1995 effort did strike me as being more energetic and better written. There's nothing on the new LP as good as "Face" or "Lies & Deception&qu...

Re: Dark Matters - Initial Thoughts/Reviews

Listened to the LP a lot now since it was released. It’s a fantastic record. It’s not as good as Norfolk Coast but it’s definitely the second best post-Cornwell album IMO. Water, This Song, No Mans Land & White Stallion are great tracks. Made up it’s getting some decent recognition.

Re: Dark Matters - Initial Thoughts/Reviews

No Man's Land is a proper Stranglers song. It wouldn't be out of place on Black & White, as good as anything they've done post Cornwell imo.
