A very accomplished cover that Ron Nasty would be proud of !

Re: XTC
Personally I like what SW has done. The original (which I bought day of issue in its original round cover ) is too harsh for my ears, and although it contains many great songs, I’ve never regarded it as a classic until now. The Linn drum seemed to smash the subtlety out of it. I remember at the time...

Re: Pink Floyd the great divider for Stranglers fans
Only heard a couple of tracks so far.
Sounds a bit grim if I’m honest but I do need to listen to it all

Re: Pink Floyd the great divider for Stranglers fans
Got the new 5.1 of the Dark Side Of The Moon. A total joy to listen to tracks that I thought I knew so well. Leaving side the usual novelty of surround sound, the instruments sounds so clear and warm, particularly Gilmour’s guitar, and the low sub of Wright’s keyboards. Even a track like Money, whic...

Re: XTC
I’m enjoying the new 5.1 of The Big Express at the moment.
It has definitely benefited from the Steven Wilson remix, less cluttered and clunky, and you can actually hear a lot of real drums on it, rather than the Linn drum that seemed to dominate the 1984 version.

Re: Bullying at work.
One thing I would suggest is going into writing with your employer , start a paper trail. It makes both parties aware of the situation and if there is a history of this, it all adds up. However, if you feel you can nip it in the bud by informing them that this is your next step, should the behaviour...

Re: Top 10 Trios
I do love a bit of Rush, especially Fly By Night, Limelight & the synth behemoth that is Subdivisions. But not consistent enough for me, with the Police and especially The Jam providing so many more memorable songs. Am I allowed to offer XTC after Terry Chambers left? The greatest musical Trio I...

Re: Devo now
Excellent show in London. Great setlist, no filler and they put on a great performance. I arrived just before the start, so near the back of an absolutely packed stalls standing audience. Amazing amount of middle aged idiots trying to force their way through a tightly packed crowd with with a hand f...

“The Cave “ by Mumford and Sons
A Lidl version of Fleet Foxes
Special shout out to “Twisting by the pool” by Dire Straits, a blemish in an otherwise great canon of work till the Brothers In Arms album.
And absolutely anything by Coldplay after 2008

Glasgow Apollo 1980, The Raven, with huge Raven backdrop and a white beam coming out of it’s eye. Completely blew my mind. Special shout out to Aural Sculpture tour, again at the Apollo, when they had portable mouth mics. Peaches stopped due JJ going to sort out a bouncer, lots of chat from three of...

Doesn’t get much better than this - Jaz Coleman/Killing Joke - The Raven King https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sTX7X5GzGsw&pp=QAFIBA%3D%3D Honestly, I just do not get Killing Joke. Saw them a few times around the “Love Like Blood” period. A lot of power, but couldn’t hear the tunes. Any suggestion...
