Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?

The band name becomes a franchise! Could it come to this? 2007 "Bill Pinkney, the last survivor of the original members of the The Drifters, died yesterday (July 4). He was 81." 2024 The Drifters are back on tour in the UK performing all their classic hits including ‘Saturday Night at the...

Re: Tour Epitaph

I don't really think Baz has done anything to be fair he's just more popular than Paul in my opinion. Exactly. PR got a hard time not only because he followed Hugh, but because he refused to be anything other than himself and put his own spin on things. In hindsight, this is something to be commend...

Re: Tour Epitaph

Yeah this is what I always find weird. This tour should've included a lot more post Hugh songs IMO to make it interesting and to also pay respect to Baz. Imagine if Hugh played a gig of mainly MKI Stranglers. Even I'd be "C'mon Hugh! Let's get off the nostalgia wagon" Jim And there always ...

Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?

I think throwing in the Fortnum and Masons hamper has swayed it. We're over 25% in favour now!

I can see the poster....

"An evening of The Stranglers with Baz Warne & Friends. Includes meat raffle and hamper"

Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?

I need to change my vote! Is a nice sit down and a cup of tea thrown in? Jim A lot of the yes votes are also "if they were playing down my street" style answers. Jim Ok, Who would go and see the Stranglers without JJ but a mini bus pick up and drop off and a lovely spread during golden bro...

Wasn't that album exclusively JJ songs? Is it not your favorite? :smt003

Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?

One thing maybe worth pointing out is the scenario is JJ bowing out in good health (rather than us discussing him dying etc). Let's please use that as the scenario here. JJ bows out but gives Baz and co his "blessing" to continue without him.

Re: Tour Epitaph

This is why the Greatest Hits style tours keep getting rolled out. Nostalgia sells even if there's just 1 original member. Personally, I hope JJ does that solo album - he could even do it in between Greatest Hit tours. Jim JJ could do better financially and creatively on his own as would any other t...

jj were to drop over dead.

hugh cornwell would rejoin on guitar.

baz would take over on bass, also attempting to do jj's signature moooves.

I think the Stranglers carrying on without JJ isn't that much of a stretch is it.

Re: Tour Epitaph

I think you're the prime demographic that the band are tapping into Kudu. Going for "sentimental reasons"

Also, I didn't have you down as anything but a "soft sentimental bloke" tbh. Dunno what else you expected?!
