Re: Neneh Cherry

I've seen her several times live on stage at her very beginnings, in the early 80's, when she was singing with Rip Rig & Panic. They played some kind of crazy New Wave post punk jazz music. Absolutely great. She used to dance barefoot on stage, improvising, moving, singing... :smt007 Wha...

Re: So, what are you up to this NYE?

Had a couple of friends for diner, but I didn't feel very well so I went back to bed early (1h 00), half sick. :smt078 Maybe I'm getting to old for this let's-drink-and-eat-all-night stuff... :?: :smt017 Anyway, I've never understood why people are so happy to celebrate a new year, 'cause it just me...

Re: Beefheart RIP

Fantastic musician, singer and painter. Saw him once on stage in Paris 30 years ago, what an incredible performer ! Barracuda is right : Hugh learnt lot of guitar and rhythm stuff from him. A genius he was.

The Tringlers, from Brussels

The Tringlers, from Brussels. Their name is quite funny, as they just took the first S out of The Stranglers, and now in french it sounds like "The Horny Buggers".
Featuring Mika, from Ghinzu, on bass.

Re: Ari Up .... RIP

Never seen The Slits on stage, but I still have that great live / half bootleg LP they made, called "Typical Girls Live in Cincinnati & San Francisco USA". Their cover of "Heard It Through The grapevine" remains a small masterpiece.

Re: Polyphonic Size - September 2010 concerts

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6r0HPXKlcMc&feature=channel - Doesn't sound too great - I guess you have to be there. Jim Yes, somebody put the whole show on Utube, but the sound quality is rather rough. :? Too bad, 'cause the sound in the venue was really great. As you say, you had to be there.

Polyphonic Size live 23 09 2010, covering DEVO (Mongoloid), featuring guest star DJ Dop Massacre from Brussels. At about 2:50, part of the audience hit the stage and start dancing !

Re: Polyphonic Size - September 2010 concerts

Sounds like you had a great coupla gigs. Nice review(s). Met them once when they supported The Purple Helmets at The Marquee - very friendly (even though they struggled with my accent!!) and couldn't believe I had come over from Belfast for this 'bash'. Signed a copy of their LP whilst chatting pre...

   A great night. The best of all the gigs they did since the band reunion. The place was sold out, the audience was great. Fantastic version of Mother's Little Helper :

Re: Polyphonic Size - September 2010 concerts

Another great Polyphonic Size performance last friday night in Brussels. This time at the BOUCHE A OREILLE (a very nice venue, actually an ancient convent, with the backstages located in a small chapel ! :smt112 ). They played a different track-list from the 2 previous gigs : Action Man, NBC gmbh, M...
