Re: This current Stranglers is still The Stranglers.

Is it fundamental that the members of a band remain the same for them to hold on to the name of the band? What about the scenario if a band changes their sound/style dramatically but keeps their members? There will be fans my age and older who would argue that the real Stranglers finished when Felin...

Re: This current Stranglers is still The Stranglers.

Exactly, I guess it's do you take the cash under The Stranglers name and rely on a setlist with a majority of greatest hits material?. Or do you go for the artistic freedom and banish the name and do something different?. I can't imagine JJ would do that. A solo album at best is my incredibly optim...

Re: Norwich 1st Feb 2022

Just got in, review imminent... Short version: interesting set, mixed bag of performances, some poignant moments, worth going to see JJ. Long version: This is my first Stranglers gig in 3 years and 16th overall, it actually doesn't feel all that long ago I was in Cambridge watching the band playing...

Re: Tour Start Tonight enjoy at Sunny Lincoln.

I've just heard i think the best version of If You Should See Dave that i've heard and that was at the Aberdeen gig, just a lovely version from start to finish,JJ's vocals, the guitars everything was perfect, even though Glasgow's Stallion wasn't an easy version on the vocals i think this track is rea...

Stoke Victoria Hall

Just got back from seeing them in Stoke. The band were in excellent form and the acoustics in Victoria Hall were very good. I think over the last 41 years of seeing them live, this was the gig I could clearly hear the bass and keyboards perfectly. Jim was lower in the mix but it suited the sound - l...

Re: Tour Start Tonight enjoy at Sunny Lincoln.

Some lovely guitar from Baz and nice vocals from both of them. Cheers Arthur. I am off to see them on Monday. Still can't believe that I have been seeing them for over 40 years. Big impression they have made for me over the years.

Re: Cruising with the Stranglers

"Tucker's Grave" is a far superior song, recording and performance to "Known Only Unto God" im pretty much every single way that I can possibly think of. I can't fault PR's performance on it at all, and lovely vocal harmonies too. I have always liked Tucker's Grave, with it's la...

Re: Meatloaf

I reckon he's been ill for quite a while. There was a performance he did in Australia a while back which was a complete car crash. I have a friend whose a fan and seen him a few times. He says he was either great or crap live. I only saw him live once - at Knebworth. He didn't stand a chance with h...

The Perfect Prescription by Spaceman 3. Simply the best psychedelic album ever. As Sonic Boom said at the time "3 chords good, 2 chords better, 1 chord best".
