Re: Prince Harry

The newspapers are full of idle gossip and vacuous chit chat. Thus is the world, no thus have we made it (blatant plagiarism from one of my fave movies The Mission). Harry is an utter Canute of a man, bit like his father Mr Hewitt, but on this one occasion I do feel a wee bit of sympathy for him. He...

Re: Last book read

The Jewish Antiquities by Josephus. Interesting in parts, but very hard going in bits, doesn't help that every second person seems to have the same name so that you don't know who is who in parts. Allowing for the tendency of ancient historians to grossly exaggerate numbers, there's a helluva lot of...

Re: Englands Euro 2012 chances.

England have a much better chance of winning Euro 2012 than Scotland, or Brazil, but other than that I'd say slim to none lol. I just hope the tourney passes without any crowd trouble or racism as there's grounds for concern with both of the joint hosts. Very difficult to pick a favourite. Spain are...

Re: 1970's toys/games

Its a toss up which game I was worse at, Striker, Subbeteo or actual football. I was a spoiled kid, when I look back on it, though as kids are all selfish gits I didn't think that at the time. I had plenty of tonka toys and star wars toys, until I managed to wreck them all in the back garden with th...

The Damned 35th Anniversary - the sequel

I went to see The Damned in Edinburgh Picture House as part of the anniversary tour, and a fantastic night it was, great renditions of Damned, Damned, Damned and The Black Album with an impressive encore. The only downside was the location, as Edinburgh's a bid awkward to get back from on a Sunday n...

Re: Yet Another Corrupt Irish Taoiseach

So much for the Celtic Tiger. A whole economy based on inflated property prices, a bit like Spain but without the sunshine. I wonder just how many career politicians aren't on the take? It goes with the territory and the fact Ireland's a two party state won't help, and neither will the fact that Fia...

Re: The Damned Favourite Track

Toss up between Neat, Neat, Neat, New Rose and History of the World. Looking forward to going to see them this summer in Glesga. Least this time, I might make the late bus home, when they played Edinburgh it was a long, long walk and then a taxi.

Re: INSPIRAL CARPETS 2008 TOUR

Saw them last night in Glasgow and it was a fantastic gig. The band were on top form and the audience were really enthusiastic too and there was a great atmosphere right from the off. I don't think they played any songs off The Beast Inside album, it was mainly the big hits from Revenge of the Goldf...

Re: INSPIRAL CARPETS 2008 TOUR

Has anybody on here seen any of the first couple of dates on the tour?
I'm going to Glasgow, and the reviews from Sheffield all seem to have been very positive.
