I’d disagree, they may not be hitting the quality of their peak (B&W, Raven, Rattus, MIB), but I rate the Baz albums as up there with, and better than quite a lot of, the rest

Re: Your most Favourite JJ sung songs..

Absolutely.Hugh may have been the main songwriter but arguably JJ's contributions were just as good,if not better. There’s also JJ penned lyrics sung by Hugh (Toulouse, Skin Deep, Reap), Hugh ones sung by Dave (and what great songs those are), and most (pre-Dreamtime) jointly written. You also have...

Re: Songs Baz to have a crack at

I think Baz does at least well, and sometimes excellent, on all the old numbers he’s had a crack at. With their tendency to try and play a couple of rarely played tracks on tours, there’re not many off the first four albums they’ve not had a crack at since Paul left. So maybe a bit more from Gospel ...

Re: Your most Favourite JJ sung songs..

There’re not many Strangler’s Albums with JJ sung songs as the weaker tracks, and many of my favourites are JJ sung, e.g. London Lady, Dagenham Dave, 5 Minutes, Curfew, Threatened, Death & Night & Blood, The Raven, La Folie, North Winds and Never To Look Back from the Hugh era, and more rece...

They’re a band like the Skids, always great live but have never managed to quite catch themselves properly on any album.

Re: Damned Original Reunion on the cards?

…a song I didn't know (Pills by Bo Diddley according to setlist.fm)… I think track was ‘Rock En Roll Chicken’, a reworking (new lyrics) originally by the Babysitters of Bo Diddley ‘s Pills? Nice one, cheers, I'd not heard it before. Music is identical, slight difference in lyrics. And I could be wr...

Re: Damned Original Reunion on the cards?

Really enjoyable night of nostalgia, I spent too long in the pub so missed the only new band, Smalltown Tigers (who were on at 1830), but caught all of TV Smith, who ripped through a classic set of Adverts. Skids, as always were really good, with Jobbo on top form (they never quite captured how good...

Re: Damned Original Reunion on the cards?

The booze selection is shite and when you complain about the ridiculous beer prices they look at you like "don't like it, don't buy it" which is great and all but c'mon this is supposed to be entertaining fun night out. Top be fair the stranglers are pretty much the only band I follow tha...
