Re: Windows 10

I haven't been offered the upgrade. For a while I was quite fed up about it, but then I've started to read about stuff like this, as well as issues with things being "impossible" to turn off, and am quite glad I have been excluded.

Re: The Hawker Siddley 'Hawker Hunter' Jet

I recently watched the two-part programme "Jet! When Britain ruled the skies" which I'd recorded a while back and never got around to seeing. There's some very interesting stuff in there, it does mention the Hunter (I think) and of course it's recently been very prominent in the news. I re...

Re: Favourite vinyl possession

I keep thinking about getting rid of some of mine - especially stuff like bootleg live vinyl, it was hard to listen to back in the day, but ever since I bought the "Anomalies" CD from the Zurich 1985 gig, any live recording that isn't at least as good quality is pretty much impossible to l...

Re: Favourite vinyl possession

The Japanese imports always gave a feeling of quality to them - thicker cardboard for the sleeves, thicker vinyl for the record itself. I haven't got them all, didn't buy them when Adrians used to list them at £7.95 each, but I did get the "Great Lost" trilogy from a local store, and an X-...

Re: Rockumentaries!

A lot of the BBC4 ones are very good, and I find that I'm not entirely bothered whether it's an artist I particularly like or not as long as it's done well. The recent Carole King on was good (I saw it last time it was on), as was one about James Taylor, neither of which are my type of music. ITV4 s...

Re: Stranglers - Sprogs?

"No Mercy" suggests Dave has a daughter, JJ has one of each, Paul seems to have a son, there was mention that John Ellis had a new-born sometime during his time with the band, Baz has a daughter (inspiration for "Spectre of Love", I think), and wasn't there talk that Jet's daught...

Re: Things you fecken love..........

The silver lining in the cloud of my currently-atrocious internet access is that whenever I click to open this site, while I wait for the page to open, the tab along the top of IE says "Waiting for themeninblack...." next to the spinning icon.

Re: Straighten Out 2015 Tour dates

I was going to go, then didn't bother. Last time I went, I think there was about eight of us in the audience, and I wondered whether it would have been a much better gig if there had been more people in there. As it was, the sound quality wasn't up to much. I wouldn't have been surprised if they did...

Waltzinblack, obv.

Most of "White Rock" by Rick Wakeman

Can't think of a third, but the above is an album so probably counts to at least two tracks.

Oh, but then there's "Longships" as well, which is pretty good depending on what comes after it.

Re: RSD - Summer In The City

I quite liked the Stranglers' version of this song, quite similar to the original but more modern. I didn't buy the Walk on By release, mainly because there aren't any indie record shops near here, and I don't feel £12 is good value.

Re: Vocalists voices you hate

Jessie J I just don't like the way she does that annoying thing with long notes, instead of holding the note she warbles up and down the scale, I'm sure there's a technical term for it, "doing a Mariah" probably isn't it. Maybe she can hold the note, maybe she can't, I just wish she would...
