Re: Lets, like, just take a year off?

It's all of those artistic temperaments and strong egos that cause bands to make rash decisions that they can't back down from. At least the stranglers aren't suing each other like the new order lot. I suspect that the rolling stones have been close to splitting up - I get the impression that they a...

Re: Stranglers running songs

Am in training for the Bournemouth marathon in Oct. I am currently running 6:22m kilometers and the perfect beat for that pace is..... Toiler On The Sea! Are you running for a charity? I did in 2016 - raised 30k for Medecins sans Frontier - but this year just doing it for fun Wow, that's impressive...

Re: Who is making you laugh at the moment?

I like Stuart Lee, he always makes me laugh. I love the fake outrage about stuff you know he doesn't care that much about. But I can see how some would find him a bit laboured and repetitive. And he constantly paints himself as an outsider with no influence when he must be one of the better paid com...

Re: Too hot?

I'm not sure if our grass is still grass anymore . I don't think its rained here in weeks , and this part of England is reputedly the driest part of the country anyway ( Clacton/St Osyth ) .Its gone brown .......just like the sea down here . Mind you that's always brown . Funny going abroad to Croa...

Re: The Kinks are back!

I'm generally not a fan of reforming so long after a split. It's usually money grabbing, just nostalgia and an audience full of people who don't really like the music. But this is The Kinks. I can't believe that I might get the chance to see The Kinks play all the old songs. I don't care that it'll ...

Re: The Fall influenced by The Stranglers?

I'm the same - I can listen to the fall all day, but I have to skip over half the tracks. I absolutely loved 'This Nations Saving Grace', and I'm jealous that you had someone to talk to about them. I had no one. It was just me in a sea of kagagoogoo and Spandau ballet fans. There was comparison betw...

Think of it as only $5 a track.

I've seen it on sale for under a tenner in the UK.

Pearl Harts - Glitter and Spit. 60% White Stripes, 40% undefinable, 100% rock and roll.
That's a pretty good description. I enjoyed listening to their album.

Re: A study of - Goodbye Toulouse guitar solo

I liked the band versions more than the acoustic. I can see/hear that baz is technically good, but I enjoy listening to Hugh play more. I think that Hugh's performance was more expressive.

But I wonder if I'm just biased, and if I heard the music without knowing who was playing I'd think the same?
