Re: "Blondie" someone needs to say retire?

She was certainly an icon back in the day. Stunning looks , great vocals and highly underrated lyrics too. However, I was really put off her when I saw the video of them being inducted into the Rock'n'roll hall of fame in 2006. She absolutely refused to have original members Nigel Harrison & Fra...

That's great.
Really good to hear alternative versions of the MiB.
Might have to try something myself now!

Re: Last book read

I mentioned The Silk Roads recently, an epic work which covers the history of that region, and pretty much the world. Explains much about what the hell is going on today. For today only, it's on Amazon Kindle deal of the day, for 99p. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00XN8UG3C/ref=s9_acsd_hps_bw...

Radio 6 for me too. The Word magazine was great, but is alas no more. Not sure about new music but I use this website to find artists I am not so familair with. It compiles all the Best Of lists http://www.rocklistmusic.co.uk Also, can I shout out the The Great Albums podcast, which analyses (funnil...

Re: Last book read

The Silk Roads - a new history of the world by Peter Frankopan A quite amazing book. Filled in the vast gaps in my knowledge of history, but more than that, puts the current media hysteria of today into perspective. £7 for the kindle book is frankly a steal, considering the amount of sweat and toil ...

Re: "The Clash" became what they wanted to replace?

My 4 overrated acts of all time

(1) Rolling Stones
(2) The Clash
(3) Primal Scream
(4) Calvin Harris

Every so often I play London Calling (the album) , and I just do not get it.
To have this mish mash of a record overshadowing The Raven is a victory for hype over substance.

Re: Favourite track on The Gospel According To The Meninblac

I've been listening to the album quite a bit recently, and I think Jet's drumming is very underrated on it. It seems to be divided into the Tom Side (side 1) and the snare side (side 2). On side 1 he seems determined not to hit the snare unless really forced, and even then, it's never during any con...

Re: England Euro 2016- "Permission and Fighting"

Read the lyrics to "Giants".
I think that nails it.
It's not working class. It's the "Two World Wars and One world Cup" mob.
