Re: Spotify

I have the family version, 5 subsciptions for £14.99. Like Jim I have discovered so much through it. Just reading the latest Baz interview, with the ACDC , Neil Young albums he mentioned, you can listen to it immediately. I would however say that I make a point of buying CDs by new bands if I like t...

Re: 2018 new albums

Love Simple Minds but frankly Im dreading the new album. They have won back many of their fans in the last 5 years, with a recognition of the earlier material that made them popular, before they got lost in stadium waffle. Now, they've ditched the drummer and keyboard player, and I believe we can ex...

Making Plans for XTC - stay up for the Partridge !

In my opinion the UK most inventive group.
If you are wanting something to watch this Saturday night, Sky Arts has an XTC documentary.
There is so much more to them than "Making Plans For Nigel".
Genius is an overused word, but actually underused in their case.

Re: "Blondie" someone needs to say retire?

She was certainly an icon back in the day. Stunning looks , great vocals and highly underrated lyrics too. However, I was really put off her when I saw the video of them being inducted into the Rock'n'roll hall of fame in 2006. She absolutely refused to have original members Nigel Harrison & Fra...

That's great.
Really good to hear alternative versions of the MiB.
Might have to try something myself now!

Re: Last book read

I mentioned The Silk Roads recently, an epic work which covers the history of that region, and pretty much the world. Explains much about what the hell is going on today. For today only, it's on Amazon Kindle deal of the day, for 99p. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00XN8UG3C/ref=s9_acsd_hps_bw...

Radio 6 for me too. The Word magazine was great, but is alas no more. Not sure about new music but I use this website to find artists I am not so familair with. It compiles all the Best Of lists http://www.rocklistmusic.co.uk Also, can I shout out the The Great Albums podcast, which analyses (funnil...

Re: Last book read

The Silk Roads - a new history of the world by Peter Frankopan A quite amazing book. Filled in the vast gaps in my knowledge of history, but more than that, puts the current media hysteria of today into perspective. £7 for the kindle book is frankly a steal, considering the amount of sweat and toil ...

DIE MONKEY DIE ! They Might have hung around with Marc P too ;-) btw, just to keep Pigeon happy, I recall seeing them in Covent Garden (not the Opera House) years ago, and the support band did an 8 minute version of Enter Sandman Jon, we "were" Headcount Just found that a whole album of ou...
