Re: Ennio Morricone RIP

I was lucky enough to get to see him Dublin Royal Hospital Kilmainham. Conducting a cast of 200 — evenly split between the Orchestra Roma Sinfonietta and the Dublin Gospel Choir. His death, at 91, robs the world of the greatest ever movie composer. Nice one. I desperately wanted to go to see him in...

Re: James Dean Bradfield

Last saw the Manics at Leeds Arena, great gig, was in second row. Nicky Wire was mincing about and was trying to jump up in the air whilst not playing bass but managed to get about 6 inches in the air (JJ could teach him a thing or two about jumping and playing bass at the same time all whilst looki...

Fripp is a great guitarist but I only really like his stuff with Bowie.

Jim
Aye that guitar lick in Heroes is a fave. Simple yet beautiful and really sticks in ones head.

Re: James Dean Bradfield

If it’s good as the Manics then it should be a good. He’s a good singer, good guitar player and songwriter and had the looks until he started eating all the pies.
The Manics are great but the only prob they have is Nicky Wire is in them.

Ennio Morricone RIP

FFS another musical genius has gone. Imho along with John Barry and Lalo Schifrin he was the finest composer of film soundtracks. His soundtrack to Fistful Of Dollars, The Good Bad And The Ugly etc was the 2nd album I bought after Black & White in 1978. RIP. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/entertainme...

Re: Pubs/beer.

No. I have heavily medicated resistant hypertension so it's not in my interests to contract CV19 and any form of social distancing is going to collapse in a packed boozer on a Saturday night - an atmosphere perfect for droplet inhalation and transmission. Doing this, the government might as well ca...

Re: Glastonbury

Can’t believe they didn’t film The Stranglers at Glastonbury. There’s one video on youtube of some folk walking up to see The Stranglers and filming as they do. When they get to The Stranglers it’s quite a wow moment, the audience is huge, it’s a headlining type audience and I believe they had a big...

Re: The Future Of Gigs

Hope it doesn’t happen for the youngsters but if it comes the ‘norm’ then they prob love it and won’t know any different. Very fuckin sad though. “Howay The Baz Warne plays tribute to The Stranglers are coming on!” “Put clutch on and put yer seat back and move yer head, I can’t see nowt and pass th...

Re: Music related vids making you lol created during lockdown?

In the Court of the Crimson King and Red are both top tier prog albums, IMO. The former is probably the first "classic" of the genre and was ahead of the pack with it being released in 1969. The breakdown in the middle of "21st Century Schizoid Man" is some absolutely top notch musicianship. Red, o...
