Re: Killing Joke

I was at the Manchester one , he started off by apologising for the photo shown in Glasgow, seemed.to be saying it was a technical error.

I have a sound file of most of it if anyone recorded any of the other dates and would like to swap.

Re: The Ramones

Some of their 80s stuff is great and rather neglected.
More sophisticated songwriting and arrangements.
Just a wonderful , wonderful band.

Re: The Ramones

It's a bit annoying that they're best known by the general public for (IMHO) two pretty crummy songs.

Baby I Love You
Sheena Is a Punk Rocker

After that maybe Blitzkrieg Bop. But they've loads of great songs especially on the first five albums.

Ramones ?

Brill Building!
Military brats!
Male prostitution!
OCD!

Absolute genius. They're like Abba, how can you not like them?

I wonder how many, like me, were first introduced to their music via It's Alive the double live album that has almost every song that's on the first three studio albums.

Re: The Buzzcocks new album later in year.

Great new book about Buzzcocks just out called Sixteen Again written by Paul Hanley ex Fall drummer.

I saw a photo the other day looked like Pete Shelley possibly Lee Brilleaux and Hugh with a baar. I know they all played Loch Lomond in 79. Anyone know the context?

Re: John Lydon

Have you ever seen that thing with Lydon, Henry Rollins and Marky Ramone? It's embarrassing. The guy acts like he reinvented the wheel whereas without McLaren and Westwood's shop you'd never have heard of him. And without Cook and Jones he'd have been struggling. He now derides them as people who ju...

Re: John Lydon

I see the bits about his legal issues have disappeared from Wikipedia. The alleged sexual / assault of a woman, the alleged racist violence. He was one of the shitheads who was part of the destruction of Corbyn. Being too thick to realise he was being used by the Zionist lobby which is currently try...

I first heard Blue Monday at a fairground , just after it came out.
They kept playing it over and over on the waltzers.

Re: Bands where a 'best of' is all you need

Madness - Absolutely is a superb album, one of the best of the 80s for me.
Bunnymen - first four albums are essential I'd say. Well Porcupine is a bit patchy but has great songs like Heads Will Roll and the title track.

I suggest the Rolling Stones have made very few essential albums.
